All right...the sign-ups for the Melbourne Thankgiving Meet-Up are now closed! Sorry if this sounds unfriendly, but I need to order the turkey now if we're going to have one (hence why I asked for the final numbers early). It looks like there will be 11 of us attending, so it should be fun.

Here's the menu (and who's bringing what):

Turkey (RantingDev)
Sage Stuffing (RantingDev)
Mashed Potatoes (RantingDev)
Gravy (RantingDev)
Sweet Potatoes/Yams (Rissaroo)
Green Bean Casserole (canaandownunder)
Pumpkin Pie (canaandownunder)
Apple Pie
Cranberry Sauce (Angie)
Sparking Apple Cider (Angie)

Would anyone like to bring an apple pie? I can do it if no one says anything, but I would prefer not to since I'm already doing the main course. ;)

I've ordered the turkey, and it will be $5 per person. If, for whatever reason, this amount decreases when Nick goes to pick it up, we'll let you know on the day.

Looking forward to seeing y'all again! :)

All right, y'all. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have the following people signed up:

RantingDev +1
canaandownunder & mistrfish +1
Angie +3
Rissaroo +1
crm923 +1

Is this right? Is there *ANYONE* else now? ;) I'm calling the butcher again tomorrow to order a bigger turkey, and I can't extend it anymore if people don't get back to me by tomorrow morning. (I don't think he'll appreciate that many phone calls!) ;)

Let me know!

Here's the updated menu for Saturday:

Turkey (RantingDev)
Sage Stuffing (RantingDev)
Mashed Potatoes (RantingDev)
Gravy (RantingDev)
Sweet Potatoes/Yams (Rissaroo)
Green Bean Casserole (canaandownunder)
Pumpkin Pie (canaandownunder)
Apple Crumble (crm923)
Cranberry Sauce (Angie)
Sparking Apple Cider (Angie)
Butterhorn Rolls (crm923)
Other Munchies - Cheese & Crackers, etc. (Angie's mates)

Also, it looks like the turkey will be about $2.50 per person, not $5. However, the hire cost for the big table and chairs is going to be quite a bit more expensive than originally thought. Is everyone okay to pitch in the extra $2.50 per person to go toward that? Let me know either way.

Cheers!

Sorry if I'm repeating myself too much here, but our computer completely died a week ago and we just now replaced it so I'm worried that I missed giving confirmation or something; we're definitely coming and bringing the yams. Also okay to pitch in the full $5 per person :)

On a side note, when we went to USA Foods to buy the yams yesterday, it was my first time actually being in the store, and I probably looked very silly going up and down the aisles, exclaiming, "Pop-Tarts! Reeses! Smuckers!" and picking up the items and practically hugging them. It was too fun. ;)

LOL! That's what I do whenever I go there! ;) I found Hellman's Mayo at Safeway up here the other day, and I actually KISSED IT before putting it in the trolley! I got some weeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiird looks for that, from my husband included.

Looking forward to meeting you guys on Saturday! If you need anymore directions on how to get here, let me know. It's easy to find from the train station.

Cheers!

I soooooooooooooooo wish I could be there!!!!!!! :waah: I won't be back in Melbourne till after the 15th of December now though:( And unless I'm doing the day sailings out of Devonport, (and I doubt it) I couldn't be there anyway. Oh well...maybe next time! I hope you all have a GREAT time and I'll be thinking of all of you!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just put the yams in the oven! A heads up though, I must has messed up when I bought the yams because the cans didn't have nearly as much in them as I thought and it's quite a small batch. :& They're very simply made, since I'm still in-training as far as cooking for my husband goes--just brown sugar and marshmallows. :p Also, looks like we have a two hour trip to get out to your place, Dev, so they may need to be warmed up a bit!

No worries! :) I'm quite impressed that y'all are actually willing to come all this way on public transport. I'm really glad, though!

See you soon!

Hi, everyone!

I just wanted to thank you all for coming to the Thanksgiving Meet-Up. Nick and I (as always) had an excellent time with you! We love seeing everyone and meeting new friends. This was the first time I've "played" hostess in my own home, and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to spend it with such a great group of people. Y'all are awesome! :)

I know a lot of other people took pictures of tonight (which will be posted soon!), but here's a little preview of what the rest of you missed. ;)
