I have to ask; my US tv shows?

Ok - I know I am moving to a country that has a hundred options for outdoor activities and I will be living near the beach... but I still have to ask - can I find my favourite tv shows there?

I like LOST, Grays Anatomy, The Office (US version) and my hubby loves Heros. Will we be able to watch those in Oz? Downloading them is always an option too, I guess.

Anyone?

just from conversations with my family (I am still here in the US) you can see Lost and Greys - not sure about the other 2 and I am sure they will be a season or so behind the US. I love, love, love LOST and Greys Anatomy too and I would be devastated if I couldn't see them in Oz. :waah:

Grey's Anatomy, Lost, and Heroes are shown here... but like Natalie said, they are all a season behind, at least. Not sure about The Office.

Just curious, how would shows like Heroes be a season behind if this past year was it's first season? I remember talking to a friend of mine that watched it 2 days later than me and it was the same episodes. :headscratch:

It's delayed. When Heroes first debuted on Australian TV, it was already up to ep 14 or 15 in the US. The second season is scheduled to come out on Sept 24 in the States (yay!!!), but it won't show here until early 2008.

I know lots of people download it, though... perhaps that's how your friend was able to watch it at the same time?

See...here's the thing about US television shows in Australia: They start showing something, decide for whatever reason that it's not working out, and stop showing it halfway through a season. Then (if we're lucky) they'll start showing it again MONTHS and MONTHS after it first showed on Australians screens. In a nutshell, television is very unpredictable here.

Nick and I LOVE The Office as well, and they do show it here. But it's very behind. I would suggest getting it "other" ways like we do. ;) I can't wait until it comes back!

Dev's right. I was talking once to my husband about the show Quantum Leap...he only vaguely remembered it. Turns out that while it was very popular and ran for years and years in the States, but they only got maybe one season here! :&

As for The Office, in civilized parts of Australia it is shown on channel ten.

About Quantum Leap, I'm pretty sure they got more than one season. I have all of the seasons on DVD that I purchased here in Australia and my husbands aunt was a huge fan as well and even before it came out on DVD she was talking to me about shows that were not season 1.

Quantum Leap is one of the best shows ever made!!!

Well... I don't know how much of the series they actually got, but it wasn't the whole thing!

After you're here for awhile, new shows come out in the US that you haven't seen yet. By the time you get them here, they are new to you.

This has happened to me from all the shows listed, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, and Heroes!

And there is always itunes - and "other" ways to see the shows you love when they air in the US. I did that with LOST, Grey's Anatomy, SG1 and SGAtlantis.

When we moved to Perth 6 months ago I was worried that I would be unable to watch US sports. I had buddy of mine hook up a slingbox and now I'm able to watch us television realtime through the internet. You need a slingbox (<$150 at BestBuy in US) a cable connection and internet connection in the US. Here you need high speed cable and a computer. Do a google search for slingbox to get the details. The only problem is timing. Here in Perth I sometimes have to wake up in the middle of the night to watch a mid day football game.

Maybe it depended on where you lived whether you got the whole thing or not. Or maybe it started playing at like 11p.m. or something so it got missed by whoever said it wasn't here. Unfortunately I can't find any info about it on the net. Will have to ask Dane's aunt the next time I talk to her if she remembers.

I just wanted to bump this to mention that some tele programs are now being "fast tracked" where they are shown 1-2 days after being played in the US.

I saw this week that House was being advertised this way and tonight Heros is on - and a new show called the Bionic Woman. (which should be called the Bionic WOMEN as there are TWO of them, but. . . whatEVER).

That's really good news, Bindie! About the fasttracking... not so much Bionic Bimbo. (Really, what's next, Charlie's Angels again?)

But TWO Biobic Women? TWO? Come ON!

I've been paying 1.99 every Saturday for the past 3 weeks to download Grey's from i-tunes. Its worth it though! I'll do the same for LOST once it comes out in January.

I have noticed ads for a few shows (Prison Break, Bionic Woman, and Hero's) that say "Watch it with the US, so I thought they would be current. I don't watch these shows. I'm just wondering how they decide which ones to "Fast Track".

I do watch Entertainment Tonight every afternoon, I think that it is only a few hours old. I also watch either the ABC or CBS nightly news on Sky at either 10AM or 11AM.

I think Prison Break has been "Fast Tracked" this season, I THINK it;s a day or two behind the USA.
(I was a big fan.... til this season. BORRRRRRING)

Entertainment Tonight is aired the same day, unless you watch it on Monday, then you are watching Friday's news.

Now, where are the Desperate Housewives? Where do I add my vote to Fast Track this one?
