Thanks girls!! :hugs: The money was a major reason for going with it. This job was not even on the radar. This will put us above what Neal was making in Ossipee, Alabama and Australia (not put together) $4k-$24k. Gotta do a little dance with that one..... :redpepper: :eggplant: One day I will be able to find what I REALLY want to do instead of doing what I know how to do. The recruiter, Josh, said to me "your the first person I called to give a chance for this position. Your computer skills are off the charts!" which left me with the look of  and then I smiled big and thanked him. I didn't think I did all that well with the computer program tests and that was after reviewing the results....so....I will put on a smile and say "Thank God! We're going to be able to buy a couch and tv so we can use our tiny living room!!" Here is a big one....we get to go shopping at the Outlet stores in Maine! The girls and I have become great bargain shoppers. We gave them $50 (when Neal was working in Ossipee) each and took them to Kittery and Freeport for school clothes. Jessica bought Old Navy Jeans for $3, Casey got a pair of beautiful black dress pants for under $6, Rebekah.....she did the best...the girl got a shirt at the Gap for $1.97, cordoroy pants at Abercrombie & Fitch for $9.95, skirt at Banana Republic I can't remember for how much but it wasn't a lot because Rebekah came home with a few outfits. Now they got a few outfits each but I described the best bargains they came across! We get to do all that and actually put money aside. If this turns permanent it could mean we save up for a vacation back to Melbourne!! Whoo hoo!! Any how....we will see how it all goes tomorrow. Jennifer P.S. I know I seem all over the road on the job thing, but I've had a little bird by the name of Neal, gently whispering to me how I really need to go with something that pays more for now. Once we're back up and things mellow out then consider what I might like to do. |

Aw sorry to hear about Neal's job not working out, as well as the candle place... but congrats on getting the temp position! The pay isn't too shabby either.
Hope it leads to something bigger and better.Your girls are fantastic bargain hunters! :)) |

After a busy week, the weekend is looking just as busy. Now as far as the new job goes with me. I can't make any judgements, but I am liking it so far. I can wear jeans and sneakers to work and it isn't really stressful (at least while training). I have lots I need to remember which has me a bit concerned, but my immediate boss is loving me because I take notes, keep things fairly organized and just am picking things up pretty quick. She and another tech leader are just about dancing on the desks regarding me, how I work, and so I would say I have found a pretty good niche. Yesterday, I began training on entering information into Access to begin new items. The company I'm working for works with the Department of Education both federally and state. They deal with the standardized testing. It is pretty cool and I wouldn't mind working full time with them at this point. That is if I got the opportunity. Oh a little off topic, but reffering to the Melbourne post about Aussies calling everyone their "partner" whether married or not, same sex or not. My supervisor the first day mentioned about her "partner" and I had to stop and think :headscratch: now is she saying "partner" as in Aussie, as in any sex, as in female/male, or is she saying "partner" as in American "code" for "yes, I'm gay." (which is how I had learned, prior to Australia, to tell if someone was gay or not...didn't always worked but it did most of the time) Well, I have to get a move on as we have to be out of here in 15 to 30 minutes so we can make it to the pumpkin festival in Keene. Congrats on the job - fingers crossed that it becomes permanent and you enjoy it. Did you take pictures at the pumpkin festival?? I'd love to see some fall colour. |
