It is good to see someone use their fame for good, and not for personal gain. I had no idea of his philanthropy until I read all of the obituaries. I read that he's also been speaking out in recent years about the commercialism of mountain climbing, particularly in Nepal. It has become something of a "touristy" thing to do to climb Mt. Everest in the last 10-15 years and a lot of inexperienced, novice climbers have been killed on the mountain. |
