I can't listen to that link... when I click on it, it goes to another page. Any suggestions? I would really like to listen to it. I have an iMac so I am not sure if that makes any difference. Thanks. |

Ditto. I'm having the same issues but would love to hear it. I'm on Windoze and tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox, so your issue doesn't appear to be Mac-related, I. |

Thanks, Jaffas. That worked for me too. Too bad the broadcast itself is so dismal

Thanks Jaffas. Like practically all reports I hear on this subject these days, there doesn't seem to be much, if any, good news if you have a mortgage or want to buy a home here. |

Sorry I update my link. I was surprised how negative it was. I did not think property prices were falling - the report sounded Sydney-centric. |

That part of the report did surprise me as well. I've heard that recent auctions in Melbourne haven't been bringing in as much as sellers have hoped, but on the other hand houses still seem to stay at most a couple of weeks on the market near Dandenong for conventional sales. But of course I don't know if the sellers are getting what they want for those. If there is softening, it doesn't seem to be much yet. Rumour has it interest rates are set to rise for the 13th time in a row. |

A friend of ours is considering buying land and building a house. He's convinced it'll be cheaper. Marty and I point out that the land (for the price he is willing to pay) will be out in the middle of nowhere, making it difficult to get to work or even the shops .. and the central market is out of the question (we go nearly twice a week.).. I hope they get what they're looking for, but Marty and I are out-priced. Even so, that is partly our fault, since working for a supermarket isn't a high-paying-enough job to get a home-loan. We're just going to have to get more education and increase our earning potential I guess. (Yeah, we're still up in the air over which country to do all this in. lol) I personally think some sellers are plain too greedy at the moment. It's a boom, and they think they can get big money for even the dumpiest of places (location location I suppose, is more important than if it's still standing. hehe). The homes that people on lower incomes could afford and do-up over time are harder and harder to find these days. I suppose the sellers are looking for that developer to snatch it up, bulldoze and build a mansion on the land. |

In Melbourne, for many of the larger places they are bulldozing and building several units, more profit potential I guess and they can cater to more people because of income vs price issues. Its definitely a location, location, location thing here regarding price The housing issue here has a more have vs. have not flavour to it than in the States, IMO. |

Oy, it's all so depressing isn't it? In the end, the housing thing may drive us back to the US - that and family there of course. But we are willing to wait for a few years until I get my citizenship and see how things pan out. |
