I've noticed several people asking how to post pictures on the forums... This is how you post pictures

To place a picture in a topic

1st - you need to make sure that the picture you're trying to use is uploaded to the internet.

you can use these free sites to upload the pictures. -
http://www.photobucket.com/ (you'll have to register but it keeps the pictures in a private album)
http://tinypic.com/
http://www.imageshack.us/

2nd - You will now need to copy the url provided

Example URL - http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/3409/246mi.jpg

3rd - Paste that URL between the image brackets [/img] URL here [/img]

Tada! your picture is posted!

I especially love the picture you used in that example. It's like he's saying, "Rotate your picture before uploading them or DIE!"

Hi guys- for some reason I cannot get my pictures from flickr to work doing this...
is there a problem using flickr pictures?
Thanks! I've tried a few times over the last few weeks using the IMG button and just trying to add it with <img src= > but none of them work.

What's the file extension on your pics? If it's .png, it won't work with the [img] button... you'll have to do HTML and put the "doHTML" tags around it. For example:

This:
Code:

[doHTML]<img src=http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/854/nonewpostspq0.png>[/doHTML]

becomes this:

[dohtml]<img src=http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/854/nonewpostspq0.png>[/dohtml]

You need to put " before and after the URL you're posting in there. And don't bother with the [DOHTML] bit. ;)

It would be (and put this in between the <>'s):

img src="http://l.yimg.com/www.flickr.com/images/spaceball.gif"

flgirl, I just visited your flickr site... very nice! :) Anyway, here's something I found in their help files:

Quote:

How do I get the URL of a photo?

To use the URL of a photo (like when you add a photo to your Blogger profile), you must provide the web address (URL) of the image itself, not the address of the web page where the image is displayed.

Here's an example of a correct URL for a photo. Note the .jpg at the end:

Here's an example of an incorrect URL for a photo. It points to the web page where the image is displayed, not the image file itself. Notice there's no .jpg at the end.

(Click both of these links to see the difference.)

To get the URL of the actual image file, find the photo you want to use. Click the "All Sizes" button above it and select the size you want. If the photo is yours, two text fields appear below the photo. The first contains a snippet of HTML that will produce the photo on your web site, with a link back to the photo page on Flickr. The second contains the URL of the image itself. Simply copy and paste the one you want into your web site.

If the photo isn't yours, you may not be able to access the Different Sizes page (if the owner doesn't allow downloads of the photo).

Note: Per our Terms of Use, whenever you place an image you're storing on Flickr on an external web site, you must also include a link back to Flickr.

I tried doing right-click-properties and got the spaceball link... that's probably where it's going wrong. You have to get the actual link by following the instructions above, and then you can use the [img] buttons to paste it here.

HTH a little!

I tried to post a pictures in another place, I read this particular thread very carefully, and tried a couple different things, I have in my post the words "posted image" but there is no picture. is there a size limit, does it have to have special approval before it shows up, or did i just do something wrong? thanks.

What are you trying to post, exactly? Do you have a link?

You need the file name to end in .jpg, .png, .gif, or the like for it to show up properly.

Gah! Thanks, I read that a hundred times, it must have been too late for me to fail to see that, i don't know why flickr makes it so difficult to grab an image. Thanks again!
