JandA - first of all, congratulations! I bet that was a very anxious ordeal for the two of you!

I hope you don't mind my asking, but can you shed a little bit more light on what you had preloaded before you lodged the application? I am planning on going over on a prospective marriage visa and want to get the process over as quickly as possible! I am expecting to accept a buyout offer from my company within the next two weeks and the amount of money I will be getting from them will be equivalent to my normal pay up to the middle of December. Obviously, I don't want to be stuck here in the states when I could be searching for a job in Oz. :D

Besides the fact that I don't have a child, it appears that our two situations are quite similar. Well, my future hubby doesn't play WoW anymore. The life-sucker for him was Final Fantasy Online.

I hope you don't mind my asking, but can you shed a little bit more light on what you had preloaded before you lodged the application?

We had everything we knew they could possibly ask for. Also if you look back at an earlier post in this thread that I made I list in detail what I did.

Below is the actual email from Immigration that they sent us after we made our appointment with them. This should be very helpful for anyone onshore who hasn't gotten to this point yet and maybe even for those of you who are offshore.

You must bring to your appointment:
· a print out of this email, which provides confirmation of your appointment, and
· the required documents which are outlined in the following checklist.

Failure to bring the requested documents to your interview may result in significant delays in processing your application.

If you need to change your appointment time, please telephone 131 881. Please do not let your current visa expire before your appointment date.

Yours sincerely,

DIAC Contact Centre

_______________________________________________________

Wow. Your case worker was certainly very thorough! I didn't get a courtesy e-mail before the interview.

(then again, there are so many inconsistencies - no doubt that's deliberate - so hard to know what's typical)

I second that...and Squashy will as well!

And not meaning to hijack your thread here but I would love to oranise some sort of a meetup sometime if you would be interested. We have our lovely Squashy that lives in the Hobart area, as well as Robyn (Tassiedevil, who is an Aussie that lived in the states for 18 years or so) who has been absent from the boards for awhile now, myself and GeorgiaGirl but I'm not sure yet where she lives. I'm happy to travel to Hobart to have a meetup ( LOVE, LOVE LOVE Hobart anyway!).

YAY TASSIE!!!!!
