How about a hot water bottle? I've not seen electric heating pads here, sorry. I've got some Deep Heat pads (the air activated ones) I can let you have, if you like. |

Thanks Minx, but if I can find those kind of pads you are talking about I could buy some..I dont want to take yours. But thank you for offering. You are sweet. I know there was a guy at a camp show a year ago that had some kind of pads that generated heat to sell...I dont know if these are the same ones.. Where did you get yours???

Marty suggested I get one of those.. I stared at him blankly.. I use wheat-bags (In the past, when I had a microwave) or a goo-filled plastic heat bag.. I heat that on the stove-top in boiling water. I got it from the pharmacy about 2 years ago now, and it still works perfectly! |

Hi Pamm, Ya and I would check if your heat pads do 240 volts, if not it may be good to purchase the converter and adaptor...they can come in a set...they pretty cheap at Walmart. It may or may not say 100-110 to 230-240, something like that. You all have a nice day!!! |

I wanted a heating pad so much when I had a bad run of ear infection over here. For the life of me, I could not find one anywhere, nor did my husband know what I was talking about. |

Ow... I'm sorry for you, I've had bouts of ear infections and double ear infections all my life. Do they have sweet oil there? Warmed slightly that's always helped me. Honestly, I should buy a carton of heating pads and bring 'em with me |

 no kidding! I found new Sunbeam ones on ebay in Toronto for ~$65, and shipping to Australia is ~$18, pretty steep. |

Just be careful if you decide to ship one from the States. Even with a step-down transformer, devices with a heating element tend to run a lot hotter than normal... might be dangerous... (thank goodness we have no need for more heat where I live  ) |

You're right, Tors
I'm not going to try it. It seems all those appliances that HEAT are what burn up right away.

I am checking all my appliances and ditching everything that is 60 W before we leave. I just checked my American bought Sunbeam heating pad and it says 50 W / 120 V. So, the American pads may be OK to use there. I figure I'll bring mine and see what happens. |

Not sure why a heating pad would be needed, but what about an electric blanket that you can snuggle under....do they sell those in AU? I never looked for one while there so I don't know! |

Our heating pad from the U.S. didn't work here, even with the transformer-- got way too hot and smelled burning. :nono: I was able to find a real heating pad hereafter looking everywhere-- we got it at "Shaver Shop" in Bondi Junction Mall (Sydney Area)--5th floor. It was like $70 (no walgreens $24.99 special here) but we really needed one-- |

Thanks, flgirl! :hugs: kolohe there's Shaver Shops at Garden City, Centro Galleria in Morley, and Carousel Westfield in Cannington. Here's a "massaging" heating pad on their website, 3 heat settings, can use it without the massage, $69.95. |
