Not trying to pirate your thread here, but I encountered similar situations in Australia. No one tried to rip me off for money but I found I was refused service after the "blokes" heard my American accent.
Short story...
I needed my glasses repaired and there was a jeweler doing some gold soldering at one of those middle-of-the-mall booths and when my aussie fiance approached and started asking what there prices were they were fully attentive until I showed them my glasses and told them what I was wanting done, which was a tack-solder on the nose/bridge with jeweler solder. They instantly became uninterested and just said "nah" and turned around ignoring us both.

The sad thing is this Nissan dealer has a 2007 Nissan X-Trail with 16,000 KM (about 10,000 MI) in excellent condition for about $25,000AUD with just the features that I would like. I had carefully examined every part of the car for over 15 minutes. This is the car I wanted to drive I am sure this person would screw around with the negotiations, taxes, and price too. The X-Trail seems to be a popular model here and I am sure I can find one elsewhere. Does the price for this model in this condition sound like a good deal to anyone who has lived here longer? Thanks, Jed

 omg, Jed :hugs:

He said that "this is how things are done here".

Now THAT's pretty scary! :arrgh:
We "test-drove" a twin to that in March, here in Perth :headscratch: The Nissan dealer barely scribbled down Greg's drivers-license details, and said, "Go ahead, take it till tomorrow night, let your wife drive it, too!"

Nice ride, but we didn't buy it @ $23,900, we noticed some badly-repaired body-damage, and it was too cheap to be okay, at that price, considering we had a trade-in.
GOOD LUCK!!! We would ALL love to see you on ACA!! :yaay: :hugs:

That's outrageous - on top of the recommendation above, I woujld also contact the licenced motor car trader body ( http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/bla/blasite.../bla_cartraders ) to report the dealership - losing their licence would be highly deserving.

Jed my husbamd said you should turn him into consumer affairs. That is so wrong of that Nisson dealer. When we bought a car in feb the dealer wanted to be in the car with my husband but never suggested any of that. Could it be because you are American and HE is an arsehole?? I would see another dealer jed. John hughes hyundai was so good to us here as I told about in another post a month or two ago in YDU. GOOD LUCK JED!!! We support you!!!!
