I remember Big League Chew! Doubt it's sold anymore...too "incorrect" these days, I reckon... ;)
Somewhat like the candy cigarettes of my youth -- I remember 'Pell Mells' well.

Oh boy. Y'all are really scaring me :) I love pizza with bacon, beef and extra cheese! I guess we best have a pizza night here before I go, as well as a few other things!

Ah well, I'll just have to perfect my pizza making skills, I guess. Do they have Roma tomatoes there? :)

How on Earth does Domino's stay in business?? I've yet to meet ONE person who likes their pizzas.
Interesting you should ask. The other day I was complaining to my little sister about the general suckiness of Dominos. And she said, "Actually, I kind of like their pizza." That made me do a double-take. :rollin:

I kinda liked them for a while, but I always preferred a local place here at home called Vizzinni's. They delivered subs along with pizza, and sides, long before the big chains started doing it. I'll always take Pizza Hut or Papa John's over the other chains :)

Vouchers. At least up here, Dominos is a surprisingly affordable takeaway option when you use one of the 10,000,000 vouchers (or "coupons" in the old country  ) they send around at least every other day.

And so Dominos has become pretty much the only wheel in town. Pizza Hut pulled out last year - or maybe the year before? I think Eagle Boys are still around, but they don't send out near enough vouchers, sooo... everyone goes to Dominos! hehehe

I didn't know BBQ sauce was standard. Must be another "down south" thing. If you order online, you can - gasp - choose your sauce, too! hehe.
(btw, when I worked at Pizza Hut many moons ago, we used to bring in a bottle of Kraft Honey BBQ sauce and make our own pizzas at the end of the night with it. Add some cheddar cheese from the salad bar and mmmmmm...)

MMMMMMMMM.......... Papa John's! Oh the weight that place has put on me since I have been back here. Nothing like a pizza you have to mop up the grease with a napkin  :p

Domino's is like eating cardboard with a little cheese sprinkled on top. No matter where it's located. I am a big fan of pizza....just not theirs.

I used to work in a little local pizza place here called Breadeaux and they were really good.

I could get a whole pack of big league chew in my mouth at once...of course, I couldn't actually chew it then, but I did drool a lot.
This is a very amusing mental image.

On a side note, I did not know that the Pizza Huts were replaced by Domino's. My husband went down to Glenferrie Rd. the other day for lunch and got himself a Pizza Hut pizza. That's the closest we've been able to get to "American" pizza. He's coming to get me in FIVE DAYS. We are going to eat at Zachary's for sure - good ol' deep dish Chicago style pizza! With pepperoni! Such a novel concept. O_o
Ohhh - Zachary's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yummmy!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have pizza envy! Enjoy every last morsel - you won't find anything like that here.

LOL I assume you're familiar with Zachary's! Luckily, I'm in San Ramon, where they built their newest location, and it's literally just down the street from me. Only three more days and I can drag hubby over there. Although I'm sure he will be the one dragging me. He's in dire need of a good pizza. ;)

I'm a bit late on this one, but what the heck. Where I live in Northern Nevada, we only have Domino's for a chain. The two local places are good - spicy and greasy! but they don't deliver and they are pretty expensive. I heard we're getting a Pizza Hut and a Round Table, but I have yet to see them. Sayin'.

Since you're in SF, may I suggest you try Rainbow Pizza in San Mateo: http://www.rainbowpizza.com/direction.php

I swear they have the best pizza on earth, and if you're REALLY hungry they do a 24":)

Don't order extra of anything because believe me, the already put "extra" of everything on it:)

Ok... It's 12:20pm on Sunday. When hubby gets home in around a half hour we are heading away from the Peninsula to the city on a mission for American pizza. I know this topic had been WAY covered, but I can't find the old posts. We want to stay away from the Grand Prix... so where do I go? Quick! Please? Pepperoni's?
I'm pregnant and desperate! Help! Help! Help!
