So ... the Catwalk section has been a bit sleepy lately ... so to start some conversation I'll share a dirty little secret.

I am addicted to shoes.

No seriously.

I have about 70 pairs. Of stilettos. And I have them displayed in my guest bedroom on bookshelves ... just so I can admire them

Anyone else have a shopping addiction they'd like to share??

Okay ... my dirty little secret is that I'm hooked on face creams/cleansers/toners/facial treatments & what-have-you. I've spent a BOMB on facials & products over the past three or four years. The one thing keeping my habit in check in Oz is that I haven't found a regular cosmetician here. Unfortunately, my facialist back in Austin -- a lovely Frenchwoman named Vickmay -- has ambitions for world domination and is seriously considering opening up shop in Australia (along with Norway, France, and who knows where else). If she does, I'm financially doomed ... but my face will glow like a baby's. 8)

Silver jewelery! Mainly dangly earrings. I love them. My favs are ethnic designs like the stuff you get at Ishka. I have God only knows how many pairs of earrings in my wardrobe. I can't get enough of them!

Australian prices have knocked my addictions out of me, that's for sure. I do still have a knack for accumulating bags thought - even when I'm not buying them myself!

Diamonds and perfume!!! Nothing else even comes close with me.

Imagine my delight in coming to a country that not only has plenty of these delicious goodies in supply, but at amazing prices too. My idea of heaven :woohoo:

One brand of perfume I would never buy back in Australia because of the cost (around $80.00) I can buy here for around $20 when it is on special. BE STILL MY BEATING HEART!! For that price, I will take two!!

And diamonds, lots and lots of diamonds at prices I am more than happy to pay.

Anyone else noticed the difference in gold? I have rings from Australia that are so much more yellow than the gold I buy here. I guess it is the 10, 14 karat compared to the 18, 22 kind.

Shoes, according to the amount I've unearthed when I packed to leave Phoenix and the amount I've bought since being home ... gads, what a cliche!

I'm also addicted to Celtic-themed jewelry. Jason and I both wear this one that is a Welsh birth sign, a swan because we love the legend (even though it's proven false) that swans mate for life. He also has a dragon and I have a raven, which are our signs. Ever since I found out his family on his father's side came from Wales, not Ireland as Dad thought, I've called Jason my Welsh dragon :) I have a ton of earrings and a lot more of the pewter necklaces, along with anklets and bracelets :)

And loose flowy India-cotton tops and skirts and dresses. I've gotten some from this wonderful store on ebay that I gladly pay the price for just because of the quality and they have sizes I can wear!

And hair ornaments.. I have at least two baskets full of various things, along with three, and counting, hair cinches that I absolutely love! Mom helps with that, I'm her only "girl" with long hair so she's always picking up stuff she likes for me *chuckle*

At least you guys have well-defined addictions!

My addiction is cute stuff. It could be a stuffed animal. Or a piece of jewelry. Or a pair of shoes. Or a sheet of stickers. Or a pen. If I think it's cute, I'll buy it. My husband usually perks up when I stop by a store window or shelf and say, "ooh look how cute that is!" because he knows he's going to have to drag me away somehow.

I would have to say my addiction has to be Juicy Couture and little Calvin Klein dresses. I am addicted to any enhancing products (hair extensions, eyelashes, getting my nails done) I figure instead of thinking what I don't have, I am going to work with what I was born with:)

I am an anomily amongst women, I believe, because I could careless about shoes. I have an orthopedic condition and have been restricted since birth regarding shoes that I can wear so that is why...

When I wear/wore headscarf it was those: I brought well over 25 from Turkey alone. I own around 50 but I know some Muslim ladies who have 200+

I am really big into quality make-up. No Walgreens over here, I am talkin Sephora!!

Given all the random chemicals in cosmetic products I really do feel we need to pay a little more to put the very best on our skin and hair. I refuse to use anything on my face but mineral based organic powder foundation and use the best sort of shampoos---especially because I have bad psorosis during the winter months.

I have been known to spend a little more money on vitamins as well. I always take fish oil, a multi-vitamin and Biotin---I got to say my hair and skin are the best they can be and look a lot healthier than others my age.

Dooney and Bourke. I can't afford to be "addicted" but I'm on the website at least daily scoping out my next purchase...

Funny you say that, Jules. Yesterday, I went to Macy's to grab some free stuff they were handing out as part of the lawsuit settlement over price fixing. They were giving out some really good stuff - Lancome, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Clinique, Guerlain, etc. And good sized bottles, not those dinky sample sizes.

Anyway, I digress (as usual). After getting our goodies, my sister and I ran into the rack of purses designed by tokidoki. Argh. I had promised my hubby that I wouldn't get anymore tokidoki purses but this one I saw was so cute yet subtle. My resolve crumbled and I bought it. LOL Thankfully I'm not in debt but this could seriously cut into my savings if I'm not careful. XD

I completely agree that it is worth it to spend more on good cosmetics, especially for things like foundation. About 6 years ago I switched off drugstore brands and could not believe the difference. I really want to try mineral based makeup, I've heard so much good stuff, but I'm making myself wait to I actually run out of what I already have.

I wasn't always a shoe person, but once I started wearing heels I just couldn't stop. I'm tall and thin-ish, but I have really bad posture and a bit of a tum tum, but when I wear heels I have to force myself to use good posture and I feel so much better about myself. Now that I'm use to it I feel so daggy when I wear flat shoes, I get really down on myself actually ... I never really feel confident in an outfit without heels. I should probably work on the underlying issues here but feeding my shoe addiction is so much easier....

I guess the other thing with shoes is that, more or less, they are always going to be the right size no matter if I gain a few pounds, and I find that a classic heel never really goes out of style. So... unlike the rest of my closet, where I have the whole "I hate everything" feeling often, my shoe closet it always beautiful and makes me happy. I must confess I added 3 new members to the family last weekend:)

mehhh, no biggie. they're only shoes!

I am totally addicted to cheese--Wisconsin girl, all the way! I'm really going to miss the wide range of cheeses we have here in WI when I move to Oz... Maybe that will be a good thing, all that cholesterol can't be very good for me :nono:
