meg, why do you have to send off the NOIM form to him? he can just print it out online from the immigration website, that's what my man did, that would be easier and save time between you sending him stuff and him sending stuff back! |

The celebrant wouldn't file until I had signed the NOIM (and I had to certify the form). She needed that form completed before she would write a "fiance letter" (as requested in the visa application). sometimes i don't understand the things i do for this visa application. seems to make sense one minute and then its nonsense the next minute... very overwhelming! |

The celebrant that we went with said I needed to fill out the NOIM and get it certified by a notary public. There was a place on the form were I had to sign, fill in my personal information, occupation, blah blah blah and she wouldn't lodge it until it was completed. In fact, all three celebrants that we contacted prior to going with the one we chose said the same story "have me fill out the form, get it certified, send it over to australia, fiance brings it to celebrant, celebrant will lodge it". I don't know what to tell you--I don't know why we had to do it this way... But we did it like she told us! If your celebrant says its OK that you didn't personally fill out the form, than it should be OK.
No updates yet. We had everything arranged (we thought) but then read the fine print that all stat dec writers needed a certified copy of their passport. So we had to contact all of them again and arrange to get their passports copied and certified--would be easy if they didn't live all over Australia! We're probably going to delay submitting until May b/c I'm finishing up my pharmacy degree and then I have to take my pharmacy boards and state law exams and i just don't want the added pressure of applying for a visa. He is also finishing up all prereqs to becoming a laywer in Australia so he's very stressed as well. With all of the gossip of cheap flights to australia especially during May and June, I was thinking about visiting Perth after I graduate (May 15th woot woot!) And I could study for my boards while in australia--but i fear that may not get done! But with flights sooooo cheap, how can i say no?!! Or i could stay here, find a job as a graduate pharmacist (half the pay of a licensed pharmacist ) but i could really save up for the move... I dunno, so many decisions. Hope your application is going well! Edited by meg1388, Mar 20 2009, 09:41:27 AM.

Meg, did you make a cover letter with a list on it of everything included in your application? They say to make a cover letter and put it on top of everything! |

Yeah, I made a cover letter. But then at the last minute, I decided to throw in some extra stuff which i didn't change on the cover letter. At that point, I didn't care anymore--i was begining to doubt that they would even look at the cover letter since my package of documents was nearly 300 pages. As I was throwing things into the padded envelope last night, I checked the DIAC website and noticed that they don't want any staples! Oopps, I spent about 1.5hr pulling staples! I thought I would feel massive relief when I sent that package to the embassy, but I'm feeling even more worked up! I worry that I forgot something! |

What?? I never read that anywhere! I used staples! I stapled itineraries together, emails together, chat logs together...no issues here! everything was fine! you need SOME organization! |

Yeah, so did I, I actually DID forget to answer a question on one of the forms but my CO never asked me about it so apparently it's no biggie! Even if you forget something, you still have 8 weeks to send stuff before they start to look it over!

Yeah, the website is really confusing--says one thing on one page and not on another... This is where I got my information from: Partner Migration - FAQ PRESENTATION OF APPLICATION In order to assist us with processing, we ask that you please do NOT: staple papers or divide into plastic sleeves place in large folders send photo albums and videos send large quantities of original photos or letters send phone cards Please DO: divide supporting papers thematically (eg financial; statements; personal documents) send a representative selection only of copies of letters and photos use paper slide clips only place application form on top followed by sponsorship form attach next key personal documents (marriage and birth certificates etc) attach next statutory declarations and notarised supporting statements attach balance of supporting documents |

Yeah, they request that you use bulldog clips (binder clips) so they can keep the pages together, but separate them easily. These things:
