02.10.2009 - Application mailed out (Spouse Visa 309 - Medical & FBI Clearance included)
02.11.2009 - FedEx delivery confirmation of delivery
02.13.2009 - CO assigned (D.L.)
07.02.2009 - Visa Granted!!!!

I do have a few questions to those who did go through this or maybe going through it now.

I know that if there is an interview most likely it will be done over the phone... What kind of question will I be asked? Would I receive a call randomly or will it be scheduled?
Once the visa is granted am I able to leave right away or is there a time period?

Thanks,

Welcome and good luck! It sounds like your CO is a popular one. I don't have him myself, but others on the board will tell you that he's good. I don't know about the interview--I'm waiting on a fiance visa, which doesn't require an interview--but as for when you can leave, I believe it's as soon as you get your passport back with your visa stamp. You MUST get there before your medicals and police checks expire though (generally one year from date of issue).

Best of luck!

Thanks copyedster, yeah I figure he handles most of the spouse visas.

Good luck to you too!

It's just as possible to have an interview for a Prospective Marriage Visa as a Spouse Visa, just depends on the CO and your individual circumstances.
Good luck, both of you!

okay yesterday the CO updated my phone number and requested for the local police check which is on its way, i think this is it... it's getting there tomorrow and im pretty sure there is nothing else that is required....

question to those who sent additional stuff, do the COs get the mail same day it arrives at the embassy?

Yes, if it's addressed to them and got your case number on it they get it right away, though who knows how long it takes for them to go through their mail and pending stuff. Shouldn't be long, though! :yaay:

well i did the prospective marriage visa, and we didn't have an interview then. we then applied for the spouse visa.. for stage one to make the application we did so in person. but there wasn't really an interview for us at all. actually, we didn't have a CO then they assigned her afterwards. i didn't really hear from her at all. actually, i contacted her because the lady at immigration told me to in a few weeks. and she didn't like that too much :\ i applied in feb and she said.. it's only march, i haven't even gotten to the feb ones! so i was scared to call her back :P so i waited because everyone said it can take months.. no contact from her. so i eventually called her back. applied in feb and our first stage visa was granted in sept. so if you are ancy now.. hang in there. it sometimes takes a while. some of them get bugged if you keep contacting them. so have a good reason to. but it seems recently from what i read on the board people aren't having to wait that long. so i hope you hear good news soon!

i hope we don't have to have an interview when the 2nd stage comes through. we've been though enough with this visa process! and seems we always have the bad luck (longest time waiting, lost documents, bad drs, not so friendly CO's..etc.,.) so i hope ours is just granted. hell, it's been almost 5 yrs now we've been together!

for the questions, i think a topic was posted about it before. do a search. probably stuff about your partner you should know and stuff about the relationship, your future plans, how you support each other.. etc.,. similar stuff you have addressed before. and would come naturally to you anyway.. so nothing to worry about. also i have heard sometimes they will ask you what you did last night or what you had for dinner or something. haha

no idea about coming or going though (that actually reminds me of a question i should post!)

anyhoo.. just try to not stress so much (like me:P)

thanks sydney, but at times its hard and i wouldnt care so much about this taking so long if my wifey was here with me, being away from her for more than two months is like a dagger in my heart. DL seems to be a fast CO and it was such a tease getting an email 2 weeks ago saying my application is basically almost there and still nothing..... i dont have a choice but to wait, the crazy part is that im ready to leave yesterday, im ready to jump in my car and drive up to DC to get my stamp and start living once again.....

agreed, wisdom...

i feel like if i don't get over there NOW...

if i cannot see him in person as soon as possible (because in person is MUCH different that chatting online)...

i don't know how much longer i can do this :'(

it's getting bad to the point where we are talking A LOT less than usual because we are constantly mad at each other for petty things that keep building up :(

i think i'm actually taking my depression and loneliness out on him in the form of anger and being mean...actually, being a bit** :(

i don't know what to do....i am soooooo frustrated, i want to cry...i'm actually starting to as i type this, heh.
