I'm trying to get on the DAFF website but can't. We have the necessary shots and tests done for the animals, but where do I go from here? I want to ship them at the same time my wife and youngest child go in the middle of August.

I noticed that Adam posted his message before his pets actually arrived in Sydney. Hopefully he didn't have any trouble on that end!

You know I called Qantas about 25 times to see about the not using a pet trasnport and I think out of all those times it was just a couple they told me I didn't need one....the htread is in here somewhere, it became a game to me.

But honestly spending a couple thousand dollars on our dog is not a big deal to us and to make sure it was done right and the most important thing for me, is I didn't have to deal with anything and with everything else going on moving a 4 bedroom house and my life....it seemed worth it :)

They're not there on weekends. James is my contact there and he is a total doll and has been so helpful.

Hi Adam. Since it was so easy, perhaps you could tell some of the people here who are in need just how you did it.

Please?:)

I know, I'd love to know how you did it since Qantas does not seem to want to let people do it.

We called qantas freight about 10 times and they allways said it was no problem so we just followed the AQIS paperwork guidelines and got all there tests done had all the right vet's check them out and took them up to the qantas freight terminal where usda met us and sealed there crates (all the dogs from iptlax had been sitting there since noon it was 6:30 pm when usda met us there and we put our dogs in the crates) we sent them off and just visited them in quarintine yesterday

So, you met USDA yourself at LAX. THAT is the biggie, I'm assuming. My dog went from Seattle > LAX > Melb. I said goodbye to him in Seattle (at the AK Air freight counter ... there are photos around here somewhere probably.) Had I not hired a pet transport coordinator (Lee Atwood, BTW) I think I would have had to get myself to LAX to be there in person for the USDA / sealing of the crate. For W coast folks this isn't such a issue. For anyone else, it might be a deal-breaker. The value that the pet transport companies add are: project management, if you will, of the AQIS application, reservation at quarantine, permit paperwork, etc. PLUS coordinating the travel, which includes that crucial last step of the USDA check & sealing of the crate. Frankly, I had enough other stuff to project manage when we came over in Sept - transporting the dog was one task I was happy to throw $ at! But good on you for doing it all youself ;)

LOL I live in San Diego and I still hired someone, Qantas was giving me such a hassle about it and honestly like I said before I have too much going on that it was well worth paying someone to do it.

But Good on ya for doing it yourself :)
