We printed out the apps last night. I haven't been able to bear to actually *look* at them yet, I hate paperwork! But I *did* get my fingerprints taken at the local police station by a very nice officer, and for free! Whee! Those are going in next week.

We have an appointment to lodge my app on July 22nd!

fyi, I was told they want you to have the medicals *before* you go now, and the cost is up to $2525 AUD ..argh. Thankfully I can get the medical done in Kal, and the FBI fingerprint check is going out tomorrow... and I'm shaking like a leaf!

Well, :goodonya: for making the appt, and then, damn... :(
We will be gone on our Great Road Trip when you come to town!
(Hopefully in Townsville, QLD on the 22nd, waiting to check into the spa-suite in Port Douglas with the Kiwis on the 23rd  )
And minx will be gone to the US.
Sorry! Hope you're fine w/ Nathan&Pos, or wherever, maybe our spare room will be open when Jason's Mum has her surgery in August, if we don't decide to stay on the road for years, like M&B ;)
:hugs: :hugs:

Thanks, Lisa :) We've actually decided to make it a mini-honeymoon of sorts, and stay on our own. Right now we're thinking the Goodearth, it was a nice place when we stayed there when I arrived.

Right now I'm breathing till we get all the paperwork together, got a new ink cartridge coming from ebay (*really* great price!), and I'll call the panel doc tomorrow for exact price and get an appointment with him. Thank goodness he's in Kal!

Mum is looking forward to seeing you and CC and Greg when she comes up in August, we'll email you on that one once we know her details! :)

Good luck with the app, Pamm - I'm sure you'll have everything well sorted :goodonya:

I'll be sitting on the beach in south Florida when you go to lodge - I'll raise a margarita to you

The lady I talked to at Immi told me that we're certainly not the first in our situation, and no doubt won't be the last. She said as long as we print out a selection of Yahoo chats, and text messages, that will be a good evidence of our genuine relationship.

Now if I could just convince my nerves to settle... I'm breaking out in hives now *sobs*

Wowie, have times changed. I'm sure we paid less than $2000 AUD nearly 5 years ago.

Holy schmoly! When we filed a month ago the fee was only $2,105! 'Only' being a relative term ...

Good luck at your appointment, Pamm! :goodonya: Here in Melbourne they won't allow appointments to file anymore; you have to send your application in via mail (or turn it in person in at the customer service desk) and wait to be contacted with your case officer assignment -- 6 to 8 weeks after turning in the app, in our case. So I'm still thumb twiddling here down South. :(

As an aside, I find Pamm's other 18-pages-and-counting thread a marvel to behold ... ;)

Apparently they raise it every July, Kim :/ Thankfully my folks are also kicking in, so we should be able to pay for all that needs doing. I'll be making the appointment for the medicals once we have cash in the account.

have my drivers license thing tomorrow, and will be asking them to request my medical records from my American GP be faxed to them, as Smit will be my GP here. That will be better than having them faxed to some place in town where they'll be seen by all and sundry!

My current confusion right now is the apparent need for Australian police reports for both of us.. argh! Honestly, could they make things any more muddy?

We're considering staying at the City Waters in Perth when we go up to lodge our app, has anyone ever stayed there?

Pamm, I only needed an AFP clearance because I had been in Australia for over 12 months, including my visits.
Greg, as my sponsor, did not need one.
Unless things have changed, neither of you should need one.

I've never been to the City Waters, but it looks nice!

Defintely no AFP needed for either of us :) I think that line is just in there for CYA purposes.

Waiting on money from my folks, and from Jason's, then we can make the appointment for medicals and book train tickets and hotel.. whee!

Figures. We were going to file last month but held off to make sure we had every piece of documentation in order. If I'd have known that I'd have filed then and sent in the other paperwork later. We have our appointment August 7th. Good luck Pam!!

Well, we almost got derailed this morning! I called to make my medicals appointment.. no appointment till July 22nd. I tried to explain the situation to the moron but she refused to listen.

So I called Immi, who had me call the health place, who found me another rural panel doctor... in Southern Cross. Dad is driving down with us on Monday (3 hours both ways), bless that man! Honestly, I was in tears most of the morning!

Anyways, I'm crossing my fingers the FBI thing will be here next week, or we'll have more drama *sighs*
