I think this covers everything!! ..... I hope this helps someone !! Mon 27/4/09 Medical exam at HSA ($271) Fingerprints taken at Holden Hill Police Station ($99 fee) Fingerprints mailed to FBI Express Post International Thurs 30/4/09 Follow up medical at HSA. Advised spots on xray but not active condition. Will need to send to chest clinic for follow up. Thurs 7/5/09 Received email from FBI advising fingerprint card was not completed and the officer left off the 4 simultaneous non-rolled prints on back page. Fri 8/5/09 Went back to Holden Hill police station to get prints redone. Waited 4 hours. Eventually done correctly by a wonderful English Bobby. Mon 11/5/09 Fingerprints re mailed to FBI express post international. Fri 15/5/09 Lodged application at Adelaide immigration office. They would not allow interview but had to be put into envelopes and given to Inquiries desk for "mailing to correct office for processing". They advised they do not process spouse visas at Adelaide office but sometimes they do some Wed 20/5/09 Appointment at chest clinic RAH. Dr advised nothing to worry about on chest xray and he would write clearance letter to HSA the next day. 20/5/09 Received letter in mail from Adelaide immigration advising Bridging Visa assigned. Also contained receipt for credit card payment. Wed 27/5/09 Per call to HSA Adelaide, medical was sent to Melbourne on this day for sign off by Chief Medical Officer. Fri 29/5/09 Received email from different case officer at Adelaide Immigration requesting medical and FBI clearance + Form 80. Responded with medical/ HSA case numbers and return email advised just prints and Form 80 required. This turned out to be our "official" case officer in the end. Tues 2/6/09 FBI clearance letter received in mail. Wed 3/6/09 Took FBI info and Form 80 to Adelaide Immigration office and turned in to Inquiries Desk again. Requested to take a number and speak to someone due to questions arising from FBI check and Form 80, but they said it wasn't possible. Girl at the Inquiries desk answered questions to the best of her ability as she said she spent 6 months processing applications in the past so had some knowledge of what was needed. Tues 9/6/09 Gave birth to baby boy!! Wed 17/6/09 (approx) Received health check results in mail from HSA Melbourne. Exact date is fuzzy due to above Mon 1/7/09 Finally got around to mailing health check results to case officer. Physical results not really needed as immigration has access to the HSA system and can look them up online. Tues 2/7/09 Email received from case officer advising VISA GRANTED!!!!! Permanent spouse visa (801) approved automatically as we have been married more the 5 years and now have a dependent child together. |

congratulations on both your baby boy and your permanent spouse visa I plan on applying for the Spouse visa, which I think since July 1st is now called the Partner visa (seems Interdependent visa now defunct? same-sex partners now allowed on subclasses 820/801, not that that affects me at all )... anyhow I plan on applying for it in early January, as soon as I get back from my honeymoon. I have a question... does anyone have an approximate timetable to get things in motion... i.e. request criminal record at least 3 months before applying, get health check done at least 1 month before applying etc. There are just SO many things to do for this visa it isn't even funny. Also, will I need much proof of our relationship if we are already married, or is that just for de-facto and fiancee statuses? It's not a problem I don't think, it all depends on what constitutes as proof... anyone have ideas for that? |

Hi Jason From my calculations using everyone else's timelines on here, and then going by our experience...the FBI checks take an average of 23 days from the day they are mailed from Aus to them being received back in the mail box at this end. The "official" timeline we were given by the FBI after our stuff up, was 7-10 business days to process the request....then add the overseas mailing times to either end of that. 23 days seems about right. The health check is a 2 part process with 2 appointments needed. We were able to schedule them within the same week in Adelaide. We just unfortunately had the hiccup in the xrays that delayed it a bit longer. But if all is normal then it can be completed within a week. The proof is still required even if you are already married, as they need proof the marriage is legit. It's a pain I know. There are alot of things that can be used as proof. Things like joint bank accounts, letters addressed to you both at the same address, joint utility bills...the list is endless. Plus they ask for a statement from you both outlining and addressing certain aspects of your relationship. It's all outlined in the Partner Migration Booklet available from the immigration website and they include suggestions as to what to use to address each aspect. You can also search these boards for proof of relationship threads. It's been discussed alot!! :D Hope this helps!! |

Congratulations on your visa! Did you have to write a statement regarding your relationship as well? We've been married ten years and have a five year old, so I assumed that we might somehow be exempt form this. But seeing that you have five years together and a child it makes me wonder if we need to complete this as well. We got Stat decs just in case, so I guess we'll do the statements just to make sure. Yes everyone has to write the statements and provide the declarations. Be sure that 2 are Australian. From what I gather, it is best to bring or send as much as you can but whether or not they use it all is up to the CO. |
