I never even heard of this, but our friend's husband Alex LLoyd is going to be on it. It sounded kinda fun. He's in England with his family but is flying home this weekend to tape it. We probably had it in the US but I must of missed it there too. |

ahhh, Kelly, there's a website for the 1st season. http://www.masterchef.com.au/home.htm It's a high-stress reality-type show, to pick the best chef from "wannabe's" that have other lives... |

Referring to the other thread on Idol, Masterchef is a pretty good show that I really like. I think that the last season here had some phenomenal ratings. |

i LOVED masterchef!! can't wait to watch again  really love any type of cooking shows. i watched a lot of the food network and bravo stuff when i was visiting the states last month. really miss it.

I read today that Celebrity Masterchef is gearing up and has recruited Anna Bligh (QLD Premier) to be included. I'm pretty disappointed that they're taking Masterchef down the celebrity path already - I'm afraid that it's going to be less about the food and more about the contestants & judge's personalities. |

Alex is a really good cook, so I hope he does well. So was it not celebrity last round? Honestly I wouldn't know who probably most of the people are on it, unless they put the guys from the wiggles HAHA |

There's two on tv at the moment, one on arena called "Top Chef Masters" which puts "famous" chefs against each other (I think it's filmed in the US). The that just finished back in July was "Masterchef Australia" on Channel 10 and that was the novice chefs competing for the title of "Masterchef Australia". I know there have been ads on tv at the moment that advertise for Masterchef Australia applications for the next season, so your friend is maybe on the celebrity one filmed in the states? Wow, I watch way too much tv haha... ETA: Just did a quick google and they are doing an Australian Celebrity Masterchef starting in Sept I am equally disappointed they're already busting out the celebs...I loved the first season and hated missing one night of it! Oh well will just have to wait for the regular one to come back on....

Alex is arriving back here tomorrow and I think he starts shooting on Monday and depending on how well he goes then he'll stay or go back to the UK LOL I probably normally wouldn't watch it, but will in this case |

The MasterChef Mania a few months back was remarkable enough that I had to tune in just so I could participate in general conversation at work, as it was the only thing EVERYONE was talking about. I normally despise reality shows, especially ones based on competition, elimination and humiliation - but I have to say MasterChef was quite different. The contestants were very supportive and encouraging of each other - there was no back stabbing or sabotage or in fighting. Even the judges were nice and caring. It was a refreshing change from the usual shiite. I hope the producers recognize that maturity was part of the show's appeal and do not send it down the path of Big Brother! Well they are done filming and for obvious reasons I can't say the outcome, but the things that I do know sound like its going to be fun to watch since I've never watched one before

ya I know, I've been watching it anyway...its actually pretty good. I do know what happens and I can't say anything so its killing me watching each episode, at least I'm doing it with his MIL so its not that bad. he is still here though, some guy was sueing him saying he wrote his famous song and itsover now, with the idiot telling the truth finally and backing off. he has a single coming out next week so he'll be hanging out and then he has to so some MC promo stuff too, I guess they all do. |

again, i love masterchef.. but i have to say.. bring back the old style! not too thrilled with the celeb version. i like the original version MUCH better. |

I was glad to see Eamon Sullivan do so well last night, after picking the harder dish!  And I agree, it feels like the celebrities are just playing at it, while the "real" people are passionate about it and trying so hard. |

I just read this thread for the first time, as I'm not a Master Chef fan, but I DO know who Alex Lloyd is. He wrote a great, cheesy, big-bandish, disco-ish type song called 'Amazing' a while back. Right. He'll be on Episode 6, which should be Nov 4 if they keep showing one a week.  I also love "Amazing." Glad the jerk backed off that said he stole it! |

That guy that sued him was HORRIBLE! It was funny watching it at night on the news, my buddy (the MIL) was on it a few times and Sydnee was jumping up and down WE KNOW THEM WE KNOW THEM. I'm looking forward to seeing Alex, I can tell you this, he is a slob in the kitchen and gets crap for it. But you can kinda tell that in the opening credits when he has flour all over him. |
