that was a quick turnaround!Did you apply in Melbourne? We applied in July and still haven't heard anything back. And they were quoting at least 10 weeks to get CO assigned at that time. I thought Melbourne had a huge backlog but obviously that might not be true.. |

In MELBOURNE??? I think that's a record! Congrats! I'd be seriously jealous if I hadn't already gotten mine 3 weeks ago (with an 11 week wait!)!

Thankyou Congrats to you KimInMellie! ![]() Metamorph, Yep we applied in Melbourne. We wanted to take it in personally but they told us that they no longer did that and to send it in. We were also told to expect a 6 month wait so we were extremely shocked to have things done so quickly. I'm not too sure how they do things as far as processing applications but hang in there. I did hear on the news a bit ago that there had been a surge in spouse apps and that it might take longer than normal now, I don't think our app was anything out of the ordinary I think we just got lucky. I wish you all the very best and i'm sure that good news is just around the corner

I'll also put how our application was done coz I remember that was one of the biggest concerns I had. We used no staples, folders, binders or paperclips (except for attatching our PP photos) Every single page was loose so they could separate it easily if they needed to. It was a fair sized but I wouldn't say it was massive. We used one of those thick red rubber bands to hold it all together. - The very first page was their document checklist which was checked off - Next was a cover letter thanking them for taking the time to look at it (dunno if that helped or not) and expalining some of the nicknames used and anything else we thought might make it easier if they knew at the start - Husbands app form with his photo x 2 papercliped to it and his certified birth certificate and passport at the very back - My app form with my photo x 2 paperclipped to the front and my certified birth certificate and passport at the very back and payslips - Financial evidence; our bills, rent receipts, car insurance and bank statements etc - Marriage Certificate - Statements x 2 one from both my husband and myself (mine was handwritten his was printed) - 2 x Stat Decs - Standard size photos (3 per page with descriptions) glue to A4 Plain paper - emails and chat logs - Ohio Police Check - FBI Check - Receipt of my husbands medical exam and the date, place and name of the doctor who did it In a seperate envelope we included cards and letters from family, wedding cards and receipts from packages sent from overseas addressed to both of us, airplane ticket stubs and anything else that we thought would be relevant. On the envelope I asked if they would please return it to us as the cards and letters were extremely sentimental. We included a stamped self addressed envelope in with this. I didn't want to seem to pushy so I also put on the envelope that if they weren;t able to post it back we would be more than happy to pick it up. I hope this has maybe helped with anyone who has been panicking about how to present your application. I was so beside myself wondering what I should do and convinced I would piss them off and they would put ours to the bottom of the pile if it wasn't done properly (which I doubt happens but when immi app sending paranoia sets in your brain creates a million terrifying scenarios). I think if its simple, organised and easy for them to access and separate it's ok ![]()
