Just curious if anybody's read the Body Beautiful feature in the current issue of Madison magazine. In the print edition (I didn't see this info in the online version), the feature model is described as having the proportions of the average Aussie woman, at a size 14. Fair enough. There's no denying she has a lovely figure. But her height is given as 180cm (5'11")! Is that the average height of women these days?? I'm a measly 160cm (5'3"), and though I know I'm on the short end, I didn't think I was THAT far below average! I think it's a little disingenuous to throw a taller-than-average woman with an average dress size up as a representative for what's average, IYKWIM. A 5-foot size fourteen looks a bit different than a 6-foot size fourteen.  Seems like Madison is still misrepresenting things, despite jumping on the Lizzi in Glamour bandwagon.[edited to add links.] Edited by KimInMellie, Oct 26 2009, 03:26:39 PM.

i think the average height for women is 5'5. i'm 5'7 and i know i'm a bit taller than average... |

Hmm... interesting article. I think the model looks great too, but yeah, she is really tall! I'm 5 foot 7 and I'm probably about the same height or a little taller than most of my friends. On the topic of size, I've found it hard to find pants/jeans here in oz that allow for a generous bottom!! In a skirt I easily wear a 10 but I sometimes have to go up to a 14 in pants/jeans in order to fit my bum, but this is disastrous because then they're way too big in the thighs! Anybody else have this problem/know any good brands here to combat this? |
