So, what sodas do you like or do you not like? Any you miss from the US? My friend in Adelaide told me she's never seen Dr. Pepper in Aus, which made me cry. But I found single-serve cans at the supermarket near my flat! She also told me that at least in SA, only dark sodas are allowed to be caffeinated. *shrug*I love Bundaberg's ginger beer (the kind in the glass bottle with the pull-tab), but the Kirk's Original Old Stoney is just.. WAYYY too powerful or something. No me gusta. I would sell my soul to be able to get Lift back in the states (or mango/rose lassi, but that's another thread). |

I miss all the diet soda from the states- diet dr. pepper, diet root beer, diet sunkist. I love solo here... it's my soda of choice on flights. I found regular dr. pepper at a market literally RIGHT across the street which is great- but I wish they had the diet. |

So funny... Andrew (the aussie in our relationship) LOVES diet dr. pepper. Probably more than I do. Oh well, I get my fix when I go back to the US. While I'm here, I reallly only drink coke zero and solo. |

I drink mainly Coke Zero, Pepsi Max, and Mother. Oh, I love my Mother. ![]() Ginger beer is OK. Sarsaparilla is close to root beer, but not the same thing. Our local Asian grocery store carries A&W manufactured in Singapore. AFAIK, that's true everywhere in Oz. Mountain Dew is strictly decaf here. |

Man.. that ain't right. Sarsaparilla and root beer are very different! For one, root beer doesn't have a ginger flavor. |

Yep I remember when they tried selling Dr Pepper in Oz - they took it off the market after a while. I also don't like the stuff, I think it's an acquired taste similar to vegemite. |

I think that my taste preferences have changed. My wife bought a can of Dr. Pepper the other day and I found it to be unbelievably sweet. I've dramatically cut down on the amount of soda that I drink since moving outside the US, so that could also be a contributing factor. |

I went to Civic Video they have them all over NSW I saw the cans of Soda in the fridge...I believe that they import all of there snacks in the store from the states, they had Charleston Chew, Big League Chew, Reeces Peanut Butter Cups (Yum), Kettle Chips, and for drinks.......(((((DRUM ROLL)))))))) Cherry 7-UP, Cherry Coke, and Sunkist Orange Soda I broke the glass trying to get too it I missed it that bad! (just kidding I didn't break the glass) but it was nice to see a taste of home. The labels on the back of them had 1-800 numbers that had a full 11 digits so I know they were imports! |

*snort* I just downed a can of pineapple Fanta. Yum. The only ones I've seen in the States were strawberry, orange, grape, and occasionally lemon. |

At Safeway in the states they have a Select brand Pineapple soda. It's got so much sugar in it that it's barely fizzy. I like it but can only drink about a quarter can before I feel done with it.

Somehow I missed it, but in the convenince store down 2 mins walk from my office in the Olympic Park, I just found a treasure trove of American drinks. Dr Pepper, Cherry Coke, A&W Root Beer, A&W Creme Soda, Cherry 7Up, various Fanta flavours, etc. Very nice. The usual conv store price of $2.50 each, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Cherry Coke and Root Beer:) |

Lemon lime and bitters is my favorite, but only if made from scratch - the pre-mixes don't have the same punch. Bundaberg ginger beer is also tasty. I've seen Dr Pepper around on rare occasion, but don't really miss it. Edited by sunshine, Jan 31 2010, 12:46:49 PM.
