We're a family of 4 awaiting a case officer to be assigned to our visa application. My husband is being sponsored by an Australian university, where he has a three year appointment. We've been told there are significant delays in processing visas of all types. (The Uni tells us they're applying for both permanent and temporary residency at the same time, which seems wacky, but whatever. . .) Does anyone have any advice on how long this normally takes or what we can expect? The Uni submitted the application about a month ago. Thanks! |

Welcome Deva! Do you know what visa you applied for? It'll have a number (or numbers) that's called a subclass. With that we can give you a lot more information about what DIAC says are normal wait times. Depending on the visa kind it can actually take up to 9 months+ to process. Other visas can be approved instantly, or in a matter of weeks. It's highly variable depending on how much work they have to do, how complete and well presented your application was, and which visa you actually applied for. Hope this helps.
