Hello,

So I am on my teaching practicum right now trying to survive on the pantyhose I brought with me from the US. As pantyhose do they are ripping within a day of first use :( There's no way in hell I am going to pay four times more than I did at home (1$ from Walmart) for the same quality.

So my question to you is where can I buy durable leggings or tights from? I don't mind if they are a bit more expensive as I plan to use them often. I also need them to be long (covering the ankle) and in colours like brown, black, blue and sheer if possible.

I am a size 16 American, so size might be an issue for me here (though no issue at home) :(

Samantha,

I've been using Kolotex. They're in Coles, or maybe Woolies, either way it's a regular store and you won't have to go running all over town.

Kolotex is made in AUSTRALIA!! I think that explains the quality. I get a pair to last a week, sometimes two. I just rinse them out in the bathroom sink and hang up to dry.

I use the extra support for active legs, I think the colours are darker than normal pantyhose, and that can come in handy if you have a few bad veins ;-) like I do.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Marilyn

I used to get my tights from Target back in the US...I have a couple of black pairs that have lasted me a couple years without running...maybe your family can ship you some since they're pretty light weight? Otherwise I bought 3 pairs on special buy 2 get one free from witchery last year and they've also lasted me though they are a bit more pricey...

I was at Meyer yesterday - they have a HUGE selection of tights and leggings and there is a big sale on now.

I wear a 16/18 Australian, which is never a problem in the US but can be extremely frustrating over here at times. :( Try City Chic or Myer. I have a pair of black Kayser plus-size tights (Myer house brand I think) and I like those.

Thanks everyone for your replies :)

Yep Sunshine I ended up going to city chic and fit nicely into their 'small.' HAHA. The leggings cost 20$ but they have been such a worthwhile investment as I am on my feet most of the day and often walking great distances when we take students on excursion.

The women who work there are shockingly, genuinely friendly...I just wish the prices were insane! :/ Sad that here in Australia an American 16-18 is considered 'giant.'

Cool, I'm interested about the quality of their leggings. I'd love a City Chic in Tassie, it's so nice when I can visit the one in the Melbourne CBD. :) Full price is way too much for the quality of most of their stuff, but Boxing Day and midyear sales tend to be pretty good.
