Yep, sure did and we are still waiting for SOMETHING from her.

In that initial email from the Embassy, they said it would be reviewed within 8 weeks....which takes us to Friday 30th April (not that I'm counting :) ).

So it's just the usual fun waiting game.......not had the best luck so far.

My other half called to speak to the CO 2 days ago to find out what was going on. She was not available, so he called back again yesterday and got to speak to her.

Apparently, this is a very busy time of year for them (grrrr, I don't care), and she advised that she will get to out initial review (!) very soon, and once done, will advise within 24 hours the outcome.

I am only hoping she does not then ask for an AOS, as she has everything else!

I was hoping Joe would make it to Melb before winter hits....so far so good, but the weather is going to change any time now, it is still warm!!

Hopefully my next posting will be good news....and hoping that it's next week, lol.

Did you send it to Washington DC? We sent ours April 6, had our cc charged the week after and got an email from out case officer, D.L., a few days after that.

Good luck to you and hope the rest of the process is speedy for you!

Hi bmr5series

Yeah well, you had D.L. and he/she seems to move things along very quickly. Like I said, just bad luck for us so far it seems.

Yes, we sent to Washington DC. Can I ask why you are asking me that, I mean, I thought everyone sent their applications there?

It is going to be THIS WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope

hey Jaz,

hang in there, your CO should be looking at your application real soon.

I always felt that D.L. should be promoted to another department or something... He makes every other C.O. look extremely inefficient :$ ! My heart dropped when I opened my initial email and didn't see D.L. as my CO because I knew that several weeks would be added to my time spent in visa limbo. It shouldn't matter which CO you get because the final outcome will be the same which is the most important thing! But still, I got insanely jealous of others with D.L :p

I wouldn't worry about needing an AOS. I think they are asking for those less and less these days. From my experience... my (now) husband makes next to nothing and I just graduated from grad school so not a lot of money in my name and we were never asked for one (which really surprised me)... Do you have a friend/family member lined up if absolutely needed (just in case)?

Keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping for a quick grant! Keep us posted

Thanks Meg :hugs:

I don't have anyone lined up for an AOS, I can't really think of anyone to ask....so here's hoping they don't ask!

I agree...who is this D.L. person that they can move things along so quickly?

I'll just keep counting down...Thursday tomorrow, lol.

The latest from us.....Joe sent me an email this morning, the CO called him (on a Saturday!?).....trying not to get too frustrated by all this AK background check bs.

I need to send a different Alaska state background check. She reviewed the application and I guess the thing they were checking on the last time I talked to her was if the background check for Alaska was valid. It's valid, it's just not the correct version? Alaska has 3 types of background checks and the one they need is a specific one with the state seal on it.

I've already talked to the troopers office and they said they can get me one if I come in Monday morning with my fingerprints. The troopers said it will be practically the same thing and they aren't sure why there is an issue as these have been used before. Personally I'm surprised our caseworker called on a Saturday. It's going to cost me another 50 bucks. Plus finger printing costs plus more overnight postage.

 aaaack!
I didn't need fingerprints for my State check. :(
I'm sorry they're giving you ANOTHER hoop to jump through! :$
Maybe there was no other problem with your application, and they just want you to jump again. ;)
GOOD LUCK!

I honestly see this as really promising. It sounds like she has gone through your entire application and this is the final hoop (as Shylady puts it) to get the visa. Think about it, E.R. would probably want to cover all the dramas you with you in one phone call (especially on a Saturday). Sounds like when he finally gets this state check, he'll have his visa :woohoo:

It's strange how some background checks from certain states are so involved while others are super relaxed. For WI, I could choose if I wanted to include my prints... WTF? At the very least, they wanted the right index finger only... Seriously?

Good luck, hope to hear about your grant soon :)

Thanks girls

We have'nt even been able to speak to eachother this weekend because of the time difference and Joe working (boohoo), so all this drama via email...oh well, that' life.

They will have all 3 AK background checks from us soon...what more can they possibly ask for!!

If I ever commit a crime in WI, I'll make sure I keep my right index finger from touching anything. :rollin:

I wish you guys luck for a speedy approval process!

We are flying with Air New Zealand, I've flown them a few times already and its one of my favorite airlines to get to oz!

I've lived in Southbank for 2 years a few years ago and hope to be somewhere on St Kilda Rd again in the city!
