Just for fun, I thought it would be interesting to post what you've had to eat - might remind fellow expats of something from home or something new to try.

By some miracle I found fettucine alfredo at a restaurant in Maroubra last night. Do you know how difficult it is to find a place that serves pasta alfredo? YAY!

Also, I found a few great Aussie recipes sites that you might enjoy if you haven't seen already

and I just took advantage of this yesterday

Last night - Shepard's Pie
Tonight - Pizza night because we are going to watch the rain delayed NASCAR race.
Tomorrow - Chicken Cacciatore with brown rice

Great idea for a post!

Bondi Burger with fries and a can of Lift. Om nom nom.

Susan, alfredo is SOOO easy to make! Just heat up an equal amount of butter and cream, add a touch of salt and a good amount of freshly cracked black pepper. I add a few dashes of nutmeg, and it's perfect. Pour the mixture over a couple handfuls of parmesan in your serving bowl, and let it all meld and get happy; 10 or so minutes should do the trick. Add hot pasta; toss with tongs.

A steaming plate of Chinese dumplings with a good smokey hot chili oil. Very soothing on a rainy day.

I found a local (Aussie) butcher that sells hormone & chemical free chickens, so I'm gonna put one of those in the oven tomorrow with some carrots, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, onions, a couple slices of orange underneath the chook. Smells so good when it's cooking!

Tonight's dinner plan... not sure yet. Maybe a steak for him and some popcorn for me. I found cooking/popping popcorn in sunflower oil tastes pretty good.

p.s. gee, I should've considered making my own alfredo sauce, thanks for the recipe C.Countess!
Now I have an idea for dinner later this week - yay!

I was also gonna try those salmon patties that Janella made ont he Biggest Loser MasterClass a few weeks ago.
Those looked really tasty and easy to make.

:D

Went to the bistro across the street. Smoked salmon pasta with rocket, shaved fennel, capers, and lemon butter.

Finished by gelati for dessert. $10 for 3 scoops - choc, macadamia, banana. Om nom nom.

Taste.com.au is a great website with heaps and heaps of recipes ranging from every category out there!

A few nights ago I attempted a pumpkin risotto using a recipe from that website - turned out perfect! AND it was my first attempt at risotto!

Trying out a stuffed capsicum recipe tonight. YUM

Pies for lunch and I made chicken strips for dinner.

We were at a friend's house, and he & I came up with a salmon recipe. He had fresh salmon fillets, so he added (Greek!) olive oil (my friend is a very proud Greek). I put on some garlic granules and a touch of Greek seasoning. Pop it in the oven for 15 or so minutes.

Yum.

Tonight I made meatballs with tomato sauce with fresh basil, tomorrow stuffed chicken breast, carrot and celeriac mash with aspargus. Just found this recipe for lamb burgers stuffed with goat cheese I am trying on Saturday, but Friday I am trying that tuna steak recipie on BH&G a couple of weeks ago. Nearly died when I saw how exey tuna is, though. Far Out!

I made my chicken cacciatore as previously posted. We had to "bring a plate to share" for the "shared supper" after my son's concert. After frantically calling an Aussie friend to find out just exactly what the hell that meant... I made a yummy batch of banana chocolate chip cake and ham/cheese sandwiches for the post concert festivities.

Hot cross buns. Hehe. I tried them for the first time today, and I love 'em. We have both traditional and chocolate ones. Honestly, though? I think I prefer the traditional.

Oh. Ewww. I tried a recipe from Women's Day for the stepson: Fish & Chips Pie.

Don't recommend it.

I am buying some tomorrow. I prefer the traditional ones myself. They are so yummy. Next year I may try to make my own, though.

Can I come over, Janda? I've made chili cheese fries a couple times, but that sounds insanely good!
