We have both been in Texas for 3 weeks now, my immigration agent filed my paperwork for my temp spouse visa. My hubby has to come back in 3 weeks, without me. I have to cancel and rebook my return flight. I asked the immigration agent if he had any guesses as to when I should rebook it. It costs $150 rebooking fee plus the extra money of the flight and taxes every time you rebook it. I want to come back as soon as I can but don't want to pay for the booking a third time. He says he would expect this to take about 8 weeks. He said to rebook the flight for Sept 1. I was thinking Oct 1 just to be safe-but I hate the thought of being away another month then I have to. Maybe I should split the difference and choose Sept 15... I don't know what to do. What would any of ya'll do in this situation? I am considering getting a job while I'm here and after the hubby leaves in 3 weeks (I'm an RN here but not in Australia). I'll have to live with one of my son's or my mom while I wait this out. and btw... my memory of "home" is better then the real thing for sure. The food and shopping (well.. not Wal-Mart) is better in my memory then the real thing. Home is now where my hubby is. Vicki |

I'd listen to the Sept 1 guidance. If you're in the US for an extra couple of weeks, it's not the end of the world is it? I guess my question is what would be worse, having to re-book it a 4th time, or spending a bit more time in the states? If the answer is having to re-book it a fourth time, then obviously you want to follow your immigration agent's advice. If the answer is staying in the US, and you can afford to rebook it a fourth time, then go that way. Of course, remember that if you booked the flight for Sept 15th and you don't have a visa at that point, you'll want to rebook it out a couple of weeks at least. They can always turn around on the 16th and grant your visa, and you're in the same situation as you are now. Could you re-book it out a few months and then when you get the call that the visa is granted, re-book it for the end of the week? That'd be ideal.

Lol... actually... I'm wondering how long I can stay at my mom's without pulling every last hair on my head out- lol. I booked it for Sept. 1 today. If they approve it before the middle of July, I'll rebook it to go home sooner. If not, I'll wait it out. Thanks for your thoughts on this. You're right. Vicki |
