Anyone know when this movie is coming here? My son has read the books and I'd love to take him to the movie.

IMDb says it doesn't open in Australia until 2 September. :(
THAT's a long wait, when it opened in the US in March!

eta: LOVE your blog, Rachel! Your descriptions of places really make me want to go there!

When I lived in Nicaragua we used to get TV shows and movies faster than we do here in Australia. And to bring it to Nicaragua they had to at least subtitle it! Here they just whack it on exactly as it was and it somehow takes longer.

Everything has to go through the rating and censor departments, I think that's why it takes so much longer to get everything here.

Well, and I think that shows are cheaper the longer they wait. They managed to get Heroes here the night after it aired in the US for a while, and then it was 2 weeks, and now it's kinda who knows how long. It can be done, but I think they just can't justify the expense.

My daughter has read all the books too and I know she'll want to see the movie as well.

Thanks for posting this, Caspercorb! My stepson loves this series and for once I was able to scoop him on a movie release -- he had no idea the books were being made into a film until I told him yesterday.

Bummer, that's a long time. I guess he'll just have to live on the anticipation for a while :)
