Ok... we all know that there are precious few banks that actually have offices (or internet presence) in BOTH Australia and America. I personally used HSBC when I moved here, so here is their Aussie and Amer sites... USA - HSBC AUS - HSBC I also found out today that ANZ has an American presence... USA - ANZ AUS - ANZ So that led me to start this thread... All too many times people are looking for a bank ... let's put them all in one place for people to find. If you know of a bank that has a presence in both countries, please add both links to this list. Cheers, Marilyn |

ING Direct is in both countries. I don't know how related the two branches are as I've never used them in the US, but they've been fantastic for easy products that don't have annoying fine print. http://www.ingdirect.com http://www.ingdirect.com.au |

Does anyone have a 2010 update to this banking information? We have a local Credit Union in the USA and Westpac in Australia (from living there previously). Any recommendations on which US bank to open an account with before we leave the country? Thanks! Rachel |

Bank of America works well with Westpac (no formal connection though) ..free atm withdrawals between banks. Elsja.. why don't you recommend citibank? |

Thanks to those who replied. I just went on-line and opened an account with Bank of America and transferred money into it from our credit union using the debit card. It took all of 5 minutes! |

Hi just saw this. I had citibank before because they used to advertise free withdraws from any citibank around the world. There also wasn't any exchange difference. Well one day that just stopped and they started charging me. PLUS any time I'd drive to one of the 3 or 4 branches in ALL of sydney, the ATMs would ALWAYS be out of money!!! I could never even use them. I had to complain so many times. BofA is the best if you have westpac! I've converted and I'm super happy with my set up. |

For me, I had a US account though with money that I had to withdraw twice a month (my job is US based)- so I could ONLY withdraw from citibank. I couldn't use one of the partner banks. That was back in the day though- maybe they've changed it. |
