Hey Ladies,

I currently have acrylic nails and I get them filled every 2 weeks or so. I want to keep them when we move; but I have heard some stuff about Aussie nail salons not being regulated and not having health standards? Eek!! Is this true?

Anyone have any recommendations for a good salon and prices for a full set and a fill-in?

Thanks Much!

Yeah, I used to do that; but my husband really really loves acrylic nails and I really really love him :)

I have acrylic nails and I haven't found a salon that I like as yet. But every time I see a woman with a nice set of nails, I always ask where she gets them done. I'm hoping that eventually I'll find a good place. I haven't seen any difference in hygiene from the US to Australia.

The nail techs seem to have more of a group approach to nails. One nail tech will take my polish off, another one will do the infill and then another one will do the polish?... But technique wise its mostly the same. My nails are just very sensitive and I'm trying to find someone who doesn't treat my nails with a hack saw.

Another bonus is not having to tip - its hard to get used to it! Oh and prepare for it to be more expensive as well!

By the way - I live on the Gold Coast up in QLD not Sydney!

I haven't been yet myself, but all the girls on my team at work have been recently raving about the nail salon at the David Jones in the city. I think it is in the bottom level, in the Elizabeth St store.
