So now I'm sitting down seriously to fill out the Statutory Declaration... and I get to part where I am supposed to write about our relationship, including "present living arrangements, joint management of financial affairs, social activities and sharing of responsibility of housework." There is a blank white box covering the bottom 1/4 of the page and all of the backside of the page. Am I supposed to actually write in there? Or can I type something up, print it out, and paste it into that blank box? My writing is horrible with no lines to guide me.

you can type your declaration and attach it to the stat dec. the jp will stamp and sign both/all pages.

Ohh so they don't just sign that one spot on the whole application? They must sign all of the pages?

i'm going by when i went to get all my divorce stuff signed... i had something like 30 separate pieces of paper (2 copies of this, 3 of that...) and the jp got pissy because i didnt make an appointment, because he had to stamp and sign every single piece of paper.

i had to have a stat dec, declaring that i had no idea where the husband was, that i hadnt had any contact with him, and stating all the things i'd done trying to locate him. i put all that on a separate page, and stapled it to the stat dec. the jp stamped and signed both pages.

Thanks for the tip. That sucks you had to go through all of that, though. What an ordeal! Imagine that guy getting all upset about the paperwork. You obviously had to go through so much just to get everything together in the first place!

the annoying thing is, i called first to see if i had to make an appointment, and i was told to "just come on in"... so i did. the jp was a grumpy old man, long past his use-by date. he stressed me out so much that i signed something in the wrong place and he wouldnt let me initial and sign in the correct place. i had to go back the next day with another copy of whatever it was, and fortunately it was a different jp, so there were no problems.

I'm going to have my aunt sign and date these things since she's a nurse. I don't think I want to mess with a grumpy ol' jp!

When we got our second stage paperwork I wondered the same thing. I filled out everything in the Tiny Little box. I just wrote very, very tiny and fit it all in..LOL. It didn't look so hot but I guess it did the job cause ours was granted back in March. Hope the lady had some glasses to read it all..haha.

LOL Tiny Little Box. With No Lines.

Jaz - just make sure you save the "Form 80" paperwork that you originally filled out for the temporary spouse visa! Otherwise you'll be tearing your hair out from trying to remember everything all over again. :)

:omg: :agree:
that was a bitch...

Save copies of EVERYTHING, because, you need it again in ~2 years, when your memory is older. 8)

You know, this is bugging me... Number 3 on the Stat Dec for the applicant, states:

...that [name of sponsor] and I
a) live together; or
b) do not live separately and apart on a permanent basis

I am supposed to cross out whichever one of those is not applicable to our situation. But if we live together (which we do), then wouldn't (a) AND (b) be applicable? How am I supposed to cross out the one that's "not applicable" to my situation? :headscratch:

It's just that the legislation says you can qualify for the visa with either (a) or (b). It doesn't say you can use both. So they want to know which one you plan to use to qualify for the visa. If you live together, just cross out the (b) option as it's less applicable to your situation than (a) is.

You're absolutely right though, they both apply to you. They just have to tick (a) or (b) on their little form and their bureaucratic little brain will explode if you tell them both. :)

LOL That makes perfect sense the way you explained it. Thanks. :)

Okay... FINALLY I am ready to send this puppy out. I'm going to scan all my paperwork in (just in case....) and then send it off tomorrow. :D

LOL I couldn't figure that one out either. I had my husband read it and he had trouble with it too so we both just crossed out both sentences and wrote in "We Live together 24/7 365 days a year". That worked for us.
