Went there tonight to check the price of something. It "saw" I was talking to it from Australia and told me that they now ship to me. OHHHH I can feel the credit card pain purchasing Binford tools! (Craftsman:)).

Downside: Shipping costs are very high.

Still excited though!!:)

Do you feel Craftsman tools, even with the high shipping costs, are a better overall bargain than what is available there? Have you ever tried shopping tools at a real industrial supplier?

I found AIS (http://www.aisnational.com.au/default.aspx) while in Wagga last time, and talked them out of a full catalog. There's some import stuff to be sure, but it's mostly real industrial quality tools. Downside is the catalog has no prices, so I have no idea what things cost. Plenty, I'm sure...

BTW, AIS is having a contest with a $12k+ tool set offered! Going to see if I can enter from here, with Danni's address...

No, I don't think craftsman tools are worth the shipping for one off shipments. There are a couple brands here that are similar in quality to Craftsman, and while they are more expensive with shipping they would be about even. The only thing I would say is get whatever you can while there as once you're here it will cost you more one way or another.

Sidchrome would be about the closest to Craftsman. Repco has started selling their own branded tools with a lifetime warranty, but I have not used any of them so I don't know the quality.

Finally managed to get someone to give me at least a -ballpark- estimate on moving a container full of stuff. I'm looking at $12-13k, pending confirmation that includes the cost of a container and full delivery all the way to Coota. That includes securing machine tools which is far different from securing household goods, and full replacement value insurance, not the flat rate. YIKES!

Good news is I have abandoned any thoughts of really setting up a full on commercial shop, the CNC machines will be sold here. That frees up room for whatever bargain basement project machines I can dig up here.
I should have lots of room to spare, so when I'm nearing packing day, I'll post and if anyone wants to buy stuff here and have it 'tag along' with my stuff, I'm up for it. Just have to come get it or pay to have me ship it to you from Coota.
Bad news is, I don't know how on earth I'm going to come up with that money in a year or so, not to mention the $2500-3000 for immigration itself and airline tickets.

Papa needs 6 lucky numbers....lol
