Does anyone know if you have a 457 visa, can you pay local fees for private school tuition or are you charged at the international rate? Thanks for your advice! |

I went through hell and back with this issue - not with private schools but public. It was a private school that rescued us from school hell. I'm sure its different for each state but in QLD, the private school can set its tuition at whatever rate it wants to however in order for it to obtain its allocation of federal funding for your child then you need to have a specific type of VISA. That is why international student rates are so high because they have no access to government money. Email the school - they'll be happy to work with you. |

My daughter goes to a private school and for some reason they do not charge anything extra, so we just pay the school fees and that is it, if she went to a public school the amount that we would have to pay is ridiculous (in NSW). Private schools can do whatever they want. |
