I have to say I prefer Vegemite (tiger toast specifically) to PB&J. Guess that makes me a traitor? Most Aussies watch me make Vegemite sandwiches and ask me if I'd prefer a trowel instead of the measly knife I'm using. Yum.

My kids and I all love our PBJ - my Aussie husband thinks we are crazy. I raised my youngest on vegemite and he loved it until about a year ago - now he won't touch the stuff. My Aussie husband can't stand it either. Here is NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose feeding NASCAR commentator Daryl Waltrip some vegemite - it starts at 2:24 Vegemite and M&M's Edited by AmbroseChick, Mar 22 2011, 12:12:49 AM.

I like the mix of Aussie accent and southern drawl in the video. |

You just made me happy by saying that - I have noticed that over the years of Marcos being in the US that he has acquired a bit of a redneck twang and no one else seems to notice it. Yeah its not just me!

I really don't mind vegemite but I love peanut butter. I as well don't understand having to put butter on everything! |

My Aussie husband ate a lot of peanut butter as a kid, it was a cheap sandwich for 3 hungry boys when they got home from school. But he won't try it with jam/jelly. He DOES however love Reese's, and any peanut butter/chocolate combination I make/bake. As for the peanut butter on celery: we added raisins and called it "Bugs on a Log." eta: And I'm with blarg, I'm addicted to my Vegemite toast in the morning! We always had peanut butter here in Aussieland on sandwiches or toast but I don't think peanut butter belongs with jam. I tell hubby that if he puts them together on a sandwich he is ruining the great taste of peanut butter by covering it with sugared fruit

My husband was just saying earlier that he thinks eating peanut butter off of a spoon is gross.I'm not sure why that is so different than eating it off of bread which he is fine with..

Yes. It confirmed my belief in never mixing them together. Oh well, when I sent him Vegemite he wouldn't try it so when he came here daughter made him try it. ![]() |

And? I'm guessing he didn't care for it, either. ![]() I dunno. Different people like different things. I personally don't care for mayo, onions, sauerkraut, or pickled herring... ergo, I don't eat them. Woop de do. *shrug* |

Lol there is a PB&J campaign! I did my part by having pb&blackberry jam toast and a nectarine for lunch. If you need an excuse to partake in PB&J sammich, you can say you're doing it to save the Earth. http://www.pbjcampaign.org/ Or something. Lol Edited by Bindie, Apr 4 2011, 12:26:04 AM.
