They had fresh plain bagels at my local woolies today! I couldn't believe it! Needless to say I bought the 6 that were left and put them in the freezer! Once in a while they have blueberry ones but I am not that big on them so I was very excited when I saw they had plain! I hope they continue to have them! Hubby was pretty excited too! We both miss manhattan bagel! |

I buy them all the time from woolies. They usually have 2 different kinds blueberry and raisin. They either aren't that bad or I'm used to not having real NY bagels

I want an everything bagel with cream cheese from a real NY bagelry (I'll take Zaro's at this point but could do with H&H) with SALT pieces mixed in with all the rest of the wonderfulness. And I want it now. (Not one everything bagel I've ever had in Australia has had salt on it - they taste like a lot of seeds and some onion, maybe some garlic if they are adventurous, but no salt....) |

If you're in the Melbourne area, "Beans and Bagels" in Fitzroy makes everything bagels (among all of the other kinds!) and the real cream cheese...plus amazing coffee they roast themselves. |

Am I the only one here that makes their own bagels? I know Brett&Alison did, as I inherited their boiling pot and oven trays when they moved to Brooklyn There's dozens of recipes, and videos on making them, I think they're fun!

The one I most visit is 19th Ave at Palm beach for fresh baked ones. They usually have blueberry and plain, although in the bread aisle they have packaged ones with poppy seeds. In Coles at Q centre, on Bermuda St, they sell matzos gefilte fish and a few other things we had looked for. In Coco's at Carrara we buy saurekraut in jars or cans. In harbour town fruit place we found turtle beans, to make Sopa De Frijol Negro, they seem to be the correct beans, and am happy with making my own in a slow cooker rather than being able to buy tins. |

I make my own NY style bagels(as well as raisin, poppyseed, onion, etc)! Once you get the hang of it, they are very easy. If anyone wants some tips let me know:) |
