As an employee of Queensland Health as a nurse, let me assure you these guys move sloooooooow! I applied for a position that closed 2 months ago and I JUST heard back YESTERDAY that I wasn't successful. Its beyond ridiculous!

Congrats to your wife on her off. Where is the student midwife position?

It's in Ballarat. Looks to be pretty much exactly what we wanted. It's a decent size, family-friendly, near Melbourne (1-1.5 hours away, that's near for us), milder climate (spent last three summers in Alaska...not used to 100+ degree days), lower cost of living, etc.

Already booked the plane tickets for Melbourne, we'll land January 2nd. Apparently I booked the tickets just right so we'll have to renew our son's passport (unless there's some way around the 6-month rule).

That's so great josetann! Glad to hear everything has worked out for you and your wife and she was able to get a position :) Ballarat is a beautiful town, very country feeling and close community and not too far from the city. My partner grew up about 30 minutes from there. Hopefully we won't get too many warm days in January, they're already predicting that we're going to have another mild, wet summer...

Anyways, all the best with the moving process and looking forward to hearing about all of your family's nursing and non-nursing experiences :)

ETA: just wanted to say I hope we don't get too many HOT (38+) days...of course we want the warmth in summer :D
