We registered online for our Costco card today. If you don't know ... Sydney Costco opens on July 21st (which just so happens to be my birthday, I'm sure they planned it that way just for moi).

There is also a Canberra Costco opening on the 22nd.

Can't wait to have a look, though trying not to get my hopes up too high ... :partydots:

Despite being an anti-Costco shopper, I, too, have purchased my membership and have my card ready for the one opening in Canberra. I'm giving it a go - not so much for the US products, though HELLO TIDE and DAWN - but because I'm hoping I can buy meat and the things we regularly eat cheaper. I'm also hoping I can stock up once a month at Costco and then just use Woolies for the little shops in between.

Here's hoping! =)

Hooray for the new Costcos for other cities. That's exciting for you guys! The meat's really good there. We stock up once a month and do the little shops in between like that. Works well since I don't have time for big shops most weeks!

This will be interesting. It doesnt make sense that it would be too much like an American Costco but I am mostly courious what the pricing will be like.

I *LOVE* the Melbourne Costco... happy that Sydney is getting one... pissed off that we don't have one in QLD yet. The prices are more then the US but less then AUS but its the selection of American foods that makes me dance in the aisles with my American shopping cart!

I LOOOOOVE going to Costco in Melbourne, if only b/c it makes me feel a bit like I am at home.

Be sure to get a big fat slice of Costo pizza and a cheap soda when you are done!! Yummo!

ta, but dj's in the city is too much of a hassle. i don't like buying things i consider commonplace from people trying to make it trendy either.
usually i get 3-4 bottles from family in the us (costco size bottles + flat rate shipping box = win). costco is going to be near husbands work and a bike track we frequent. it was just easier.

The "American foods" selection at David Jones is pretty much useless and the prices are in the "no thanks" range. $16 for a small can of Folgers coffee? I will be in the states next week till mid August and cant wait. But oddly enough I cant wait to get back to check out the new Costco. I seem to be on the no logic express.

I am pretty sure I have seen labels on the American foods at DJs that say they're from the USA Foods store anyhow...

I think I live my life on the no logic express, by the way!

I'm one of those who braved the crazed crowds at Costco today and I am so glad I did. I am one happy girl now that I have:

Best Foods Mayo
Heinz Ketchup
Vlasic Dill Pickles
Kirkland Cashew Clusters
Mareblu Naturals Trail Mix
RiceWorks chips
Mongo bag of Kettle Chips (actually called by a different name here, but the same)
Bob's Red Mill Quinoa

Those last four items are gluten free and they are SO GOOD~I'm thrilled to have them back!

Yes, I am so happy I took a picture of some of it! :rollin:

You are brave, I'm not willing to mill with the crowds just yet.

Having said that can you check out if they carry diced green chilies?
