I haven't posted since before I left America I think...it seems so long ago now. I had to come back here to look at my signature to get the right date of when I sent my application off in 2010..lol. I didn't want to go wade through my paperwork to find the date. :)

But I wanted to post because I'm now hoping to hear soon about the second stage of my permanent residency visa. Subclass 309 was granted 17 September 2010 and now I'm waiting for the subclass 100 to be granted so I can finally become a permanent resident here. I can't wait. I hope there are no problems.

Does anyone have any hints on what happens at this stage? I have my application still and everything I sent in the first time...so I'm hoping everything will go smoothly. I'd hate to get sent back to America...I really never want to live there again after spending the last year and a half here. My husband and I have settled down and we're making plans for the future and the kids are doing well in school and my daughter has already chosen a university that she's wanting to attend for zoology...she really would like to work in Australian zoos...

Anyway...just stressing a bit here and hoping everything goes well.

thanks for listening...
Karen

Welcome back, Karen! Long time no see!

It's been ages since I did my 2nd stage app, so things may have changed a whole lot, but I believe they're supposed to contact you about 60 days before the 2-yr anniversary of the date you sent in your application. I got a letter requesting another round of paperwork, including statutory declarations, Form 80, AFP check. It's great that you have your previous application because it asks for a lot of the same info. Anyway, you get together everything they ask for, send it in, wait awhile, and presto - you're a PR!

Really, it seemed to be just a ginormous formality. Give them lots of evidence that you're still in a 'genuine and continuing relationship' and you'll be right. You won't get kicked out! :hugs:
